ABOUT THE GAME

  • Action-adventure shooter, released October 7th 2021

PREMISE

As dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps.

MY ROLE

Narrative Designer (2018 - 2021)

  • Designed new narrative mechanics for the Far Cry brand and collaborated closely with writers, voice designers, game designers & programmers to prototype and integrate them.

  • Design owner for new dialogue systems, open world narrative content & systemic VO (barks, NPC interacts, systemic convos, etc).

  • Set up and prepared scripts for writers with direction and placeholder lines (cinematics, mission dialogue, menu/HUD etc).

  • Owner of the dialog database, which requires integrating dialogue and setting up conditional logic, preconditions, priority tags and weights for systemic dialogue to trigger.

  • Designed missions alongside writers and level designers using our narrative and worldbuilding tools.

  • Evaluated and reviewed narrative content, sequences and dialogue, ensuring proper player training and comprehension, as well as nailing down narrative continuity, tone, themes, character & emotional story arcs.

  • Participated in blueprint meetings, writers’ rooms, mission reviews, VO records & mo-cap sessions.

  • Represented and championed the narrative in director and leadership meetings, syncs and reviews.

  • Trained new narrative designers, writers, voice designers and interns on how our narrative tools and mechanics work, and how to use our in-house writing/recording/localization software tool.

  • Created and managed narrative confluence documentation for all teams to reference the game’s narrative.

  • Organized regular syncs with co-dev teams to provide updates to the narrative & answer their questions.

  • Helped deliver the game’s first playable and continued until ship.
